Casted glass blocks allow light to pass through while maintaining privacy. They can diffuse light, creating soft, ambient lighting effects within a space.

Casted glass blocks are typically strong and durable, resistant to scratches and impact. However, they are not invulnerable and can break under sufficient force.

Casted glass blocks come in a variety of finishes (clear, frosted, patterned) and colors, allowing for creative design and aesthetic flexibility.

Key Disadvantages of glass blocks：

Thermal Efficiency: Despite offering some level of thermal insulation, glass blocks may not be as energy-efficient as other insulating materials or double/triple-glazed window units.

Cost: The initial cost of glass blocks and their installation can be higher than traditional glass or other building materials, which might be a limiting factor for some budgets.

Installation Complexity: Proper installation of glass blocks requires skill and experience, particularly to ensure that the blocks are sealed correctly to prevent leaks and maintain structural integrity.

Condensation: In certain climates, the difference in temperature between the inside and outside can lead to condensation on the inside surface of the glass blocks, which may require additional ventilation to mitigate.

Weight Limitations:

Glass blocks are heavier than many traditional building materials such as standard window glass or acrylic blocks. This can affect the structural support required, especially for large installations or where they are used as part of a wall or large window. The weight demands careful consideration during design and installation to ensure the building structure can support the load. 

Demension limitations:

Glass blocks typically come in standard sizes, with common dimensions ranging from 4x8 inches to 12x12 inches (about 10x20 cm to 30x30 cm) and various thicknesses. While these sizes are suitable for many applications, they may limit design flexibility compared to other materials that can be cut or customized to any size. The size of glass blocks can also limit the size of individual panels or windows without additional structural supports, impacting large-scale designs or applications requiring seamless views.

Shape Limitations: 

Standard glass blocks are typically square or rectangular, limiting design options to mostly grid-like patterns. Although there are some variations in shape (such as curved blocks for creating rounded walls), the shapes are not as varied as other materials like cut glass, metal, or wood, which can be more easily shaped or molded. The rigidity and fixed shapes of glass blocks mean that they cannot be used for applications requiring custom or irregular shapes without significantly increasing complexity and cost.
